Gazetted as a protected area, efforts include reforestation, fencing, and community partnerships. The recent Ondiri Run, commemorating World Wetlands Day, emphasized the urgent need for conservation. As we navigate through the delicate balance between human activity and environmental preservation, Ondiri Wetland stands as a testament to the enduring connection between humanity and nature.

Climate Finance in West Asia: Big pockets, empty hands
While climate finance has been increasing annually on a global level, the distribution of funds remains dominated by sectoral projects (Energy, transport, agriculture, etc.) in MENA. Annual global climate finance is still falling short for what is needed to remain under the 1.5 degrees celsius scenario. Climate finance flows from intermediaries to sectors using financial instruments for different uses. The purpose of this blog is to discuss the end point of climate finance. There is a need for diversifying the beneficiaries of climate finance on a global and regional level. Technological innovations dominate global financial support whereas social change and investing in nature fall behind.

As part of Africa Climate Week, we partnered with Youth in Landscapes to host Youth Voices for Nature and Climate; A path to restoration. Together, we brought forward youth leaders who are engaging with initiatives that are transforming their communities, creating opportunities for youth, and at the same time helping restore nature as well as acting for the climate within their various landscapes from Nigeria, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.
