Mika Byabuze Ray is a young leader from the Democratic Republic of Congo committed to advancing financial integrity, Agricultural sustainable solutions, and youth-led innovation in his region. Trained in Accounting and Financial Sciences at ISC-Goma, his professional journey bridges governance, renewable energy, and emerging agri-tech.
Currently, he serves as Internal Control Officer at Virunga Energies, a company producing and distributing clean hydroelectric power to communities around Virunga National Park. Virunga Energies also builds and maintains its own grid infrastructure, provides affordable energy to households and SMEs, and supports local development through electricity access for schools, hospitals, and small industries. In his role, Mika ensures financial transparency, leads donor compliance, and strengthens control systems that keep operations efficient, compliant, and socially responsible.
Alongside this, Mika is the founder of AGRIBEETECH, an early-stage startup developing digital solutions for sustainable beekeeping. The initiative focuses on breeding queen bees, forming new colonies with the objectives of equipping beekeepers with tools that enhance productivity, biodiversity, and income generation across rural communities.
Currently, Mika serves as a Global Ambassador at Youth4Nature, where he supports knowledge sharing, storytelling, capacity building, and organizational development, helping amplify youth voices and local nature-based solutions across the globe.
Mika believes that global and Africa’s transformation depends on empowering young people to lead with integrity, innovation, and environmental consciousness. Outside work, he enjoys exploring nature, reading, mentoring young changemakers, and reflecting on humanity’s relationship with the natural world.
