CREATING A YOUTH ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION

NatureKit.org which is youth movement based in Kasungu offers Environmental Leadership Programme to youth in Kasungu where youths are mentored on worlds pressing issues on the environment.

The Leadership program nurtured youths on Climate Change, Plastic Pollution, Wildlife Conservation, Deforestation, Wildlife conservation, Endangered mammals, Environmental leadership and Activism. This program is offered youths aged 15 to 25 were involved in the mentorship program. This program is the onset of Environmental Leadership Program that the mentored youth are offering environmental education on the targeted areas to schools and communities. The program enhances their knowledge and skills to youths in different environmental issues to make sure that youths are in forefront in the fight against environmental degradation.

The knowledge gap between the youth and the actual environmental issues is fueling critical issues such as: Climate change, plastic pollution, wildlife crimes, deforestation, waste management and biodiversity erosion among others. Environmental education engages learners as they understand how nature works and how humans impact our world. The youths have a chance to understand the cause and effects of different human activities to the environmental hence giving them better chances to get engaged in conservation activities.

NatureKit.org is a youth led community based Organization in Kasungu. NatureKit.org ensures youth activeness in environmental issues because the youths lack knowledge and information to properly understand about the environment and how to conserve it. Lack of youth being in forefront in the fight against environmental degradation is a key to falling of environmental conservation efforts. NatureKit provide environmental leadership skills to youths aged 15 to 25 on issues regarding climate change, plastic pollution, deforestation, wildlife conservation, environmental activism and conservation of endangered mammals.
