Carol Bogezi is a recent Wildlife Science doctorate with a passion for environment, youth education and community development. Originally from Uganda, Dr. Bogezi was awarded the Beinecke Africa Wildlife scholarship by WCS to pursue graduate studies in the USA. In 2016 Dr. Bogezi was awarded the Environmental Leadership Award by the Bullitt Foundation, and was named one of the ‘Top 40 Under 40 most Influential women in 2016’ by the Sunday Monitor in Uganda. Born and raised on a farm in Uganda, Bogezi is intimately aware of the needs of humans competing for natural resources, and the value of education in overcoming poverty. She runs Tusubira-We Have Hope that addresses issues that perpetuate poverty in rural Uganda. Dr. Bogezi strongly believes in the interconnectivity of environment conservation and economic development and that the two should not be tackled in isolation but in an interdisciplinary multi-sectoral way. She believes that the youth have a lot to offer in protecting the earth’s climate and natural resources while also innovating developments that will sustain us on this planet for the future and that is why she is excited and honored to join Y4N board.
