RECAP: Meghna Knowledge Forum

In June of 2021, the Y4N team joined our partners at the Meghna Knowledge Forum to participate in the first ever multi-stakeholder exchange about sustainable and inclusive management of the Megha River Basin, which stretches across Bangladesh and India.

During the Forum, we hosted an interactive side session for youth called The River Game to discuss the interconnections of river biodiversity, culture, and various threats to river-based livelihoods (fisheries, agriculture, navigation and tourism). Through these games, the session aimed to highlight the specific roles that youth can play in promoting cooperative management of the Meghna river basin.

We had a great turn out and together with our event partners Mekateam and TROSA and over 30 awesome youth participants, we identified river stakeholders, what has changed in the river basin over the last 100 years, what is currently missing in the river today, and (of course!) youth-led solutions to filling these gaps.
