COP26 starts today!
This is a critical moment for our futures and the future of our planet, and at Y4N, we have all hands on deck to build space for youth and other underrepresented and marginalised voices, and to demonstrate what real leadership for climate and nature looks like.

Our message to COP26 decision-makers is simple.
Solutions to the intersectional crises of our time lay before us: with youth, with Indigenous and front-line communities, with nature positive actions, and with accountability frameworks. Only when justice is centred will we see a resilient future for our planet.

Our global youth delegation will be participating in-person in Glasgow and digitally from across the world. We are ready to show up, to work together, and to get loud about the things we know best - youth, nature, and justice.

Y4N - West Asia Pre-COP26 position statements

In the lead-up to COP26, the West Asia team at Youth4Nature has collaboratively produced a series of regional positions about topics from finance, to market mechanisms, to the UNFCCC process. The position statements include social justice, which is central to the Arab group’s adaptation and mitigation plans.

CBD, COP15… What it’s all about & how to get engaged

Earlier this month marked the first part of the 15th Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), commonly referred to as COP15. Understanding how these negotiations work, and how they connect to the more familiar "climate COP", can be complicated!

>> We break it down in this blog, all about the CBD, COP15, and youth engagement.

The weeks of COP can be challenging. They are often riddled with in-action, burdened by the slow pace of bureaucracy. These high-level negotiations lay bare the power imbalance and the inequities that surround us, especially with the compounding impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But, COP can also be a space of incredible solidarity. Of powerful leadership from on-the-ground communities. Of inspiring action and empowering visioning for our futures. It can be a dynamic space for creativity, collaboration, and connection. It can be a space of building, of moving, of approaching the world around us through systems and with a holistic understanding. It is a space we are grateful to claim access to with our fellow organisers who are looking to the same future that we are - one of justice, one that is resilient, one that includes nature, and one that leaves no one behind.

In the weeks ahead, we wish you space for learning, leading, and speaking your truth, followed closely by some deep rest and reflection.

We will see you out there - online and in Glasgow!

With love & solidarity,
The Y4N Team
